Frequently asked questions
Direct answers in plain language — no medical jargon. About evaluations, therapy, insurance, telehealth, immigration, and more.
Getting Started
The best first step is a free 15-minute consultation. This call helps us confirm the right type of evaluation or service for your situation, answer your questions, and give you a realistic timeline. No commitment required.
No — self-referrals are welcome for all of our services. You can contact us directly to schedule a free consultation without any physician or therapist referral.
We typically have availability within days, not weeks. We do not maintain long waitlists. Contact us and we will find a time that works for your schedule.
English and Spanish — fully and equivalently. Both Dr. Diaz and Dr. Fundora are native bilingual. The evaluation, testing, report, and feedback session can all be conducted in English, Spanish, or both.
Evaluations
We offer psychological diagnostic evaluations, neuropsychological evaluations, psycho-educational evaluations, immigration evaluations (N-648, hardship, asylum), health and disability evaluations, vocational evaluations, and capacity/legal evaluations. See our Services page for the full list.
We evaluate individuals from 18 months through elderly adulthood. This full age range under one practice is rare in Miami — families can stay with the same trusted team across every life stage.
It depends on the type: psychological diagnostic evaluations are typically 1–3 hours; neuropsychological evaluations run 2–6 hours; immigration evaluations are usually 1–2 hours; psycho-educational evaluations are typically 2–4 hours. Your free consultation will give you a specific estimate.
Every report includes a background summary, description of testing methods, findings and interpretation, diagnosis (when applicable), and specific, actionable recommendations. Reports are written in plain language — not jargon — so families, schools, attorneys, and medical providers can all use them.
Most reports are completed within 5–10 business days after the evaluation. Rush turnaround (2–3 business days) is available for immigration and time-sensitive legal cases.
Therapy
Yes. Dr. Fundora offers individual psychotherapy for children, adolescents, and adults using CBT, Humanistic, Psychodynamic, and Play Therapy approaches. Family therapy is also available.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Humanistic therapy, Psychodynamic approaches, Play Therapy for children, and Family Systems approaches. The method is always tailored to the individual client's needs, age, and goals.
It varies by individual. Some clients find meaningful relief in 8–12 sessions; others benefit from longer-term work. We focus on setting clear goals so that progress is measurable — and you always know where you are in the process.
Insurance & Payment
We do not currently accept insurance. We are a private-pay practice. We can provide a superbill (detailed receipt) that you can submit to your insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
Cash, credit card, check, money order, and Zelle. Payment is due at the time of service unless other arrangements have been made in advance.
Many insurance plans with out-of-network benefits will reimburse a portion of our fees. We provide a superbill with all the necessary codes and documentation. Contact your insurance provider to confirm your out-of-network benefits before your appointment.
Telehealth
Yes. Most of our services — including evaluations and therapy — are available via secure telehealth for clients anywhere in Florida. Some specialized testing components may require in-person assessment; your free consultation will clarify what applies to your situation.
A smartphone, tablet, or computer with a camera and microphone, a stable internet connection, and a private space where you feel comfortable. We use a HIPAA-compliant secure video platform — no special app download is usually required.
As a private-pay practice, this doesn't apply directly. However, if you are seeking out-of-network reimbursement, telehealth sessions and evaluations are typically coded the same as in-person — check with your insurer.
Immigration & Legal
Form N-648 is the Medical Certification for Disability Exceptions used in the U.S. naturalization process. If you have a physical or mental disability that prevents you from learning English or civics, a licensed psychologist must certify this on the N-648 form. We complete and certify this form for eligible clients.
Yes — we regularly work with immigration law firms and can coordinate directly with your attorney on format, timing, and required documentation. Attorney-referred clients are welcome and we can communicate directly with your attorney if you provide written authorization.
Yes. We provide psychological evaluations documenting trauma, persecution, and mental health impact in support of asylum claims, VAWA petitions, T and U visas, and similar humanitarian immigration applications.
We offer capacity evaluations, competency assessments, guardianship evaluations, risk assessments, and vocational evaluations for use in civil, family, and probate legal proceedings. See our Capacity & Legal Evaluations page for details.
Records & Reports
Yes. Reports are written to be understood by schools and include actionable recommendations that schools can implement. You own your records and can share them with anyone you choose.
Contact us directly by phone or email. We will provide a records release form. Under Florida law and HIPAA, you have the right to access your own records. Standard processing time is 10–15 business days; expedited requests are accommodated for legal deadlines.
With your written authorization, yes. We can send reports directly to schools, physicians, therapists, attorneys, or government agencies. We will always confirm your consent before releasing any records to a third party.
