About psycho-educational evaluations

A psycho-educational evaluation measures how a child learns — assessing cognitive ability, academic achievement, attention, processing speed, and social-emotional functioning together. The goal is not just a diagnosis but a full picture of a child's strengths and challenges so that parents, teachers, and clinicians can act on it.

We evaluate children and adolescents for ADHD, learning disabilities (reading, writing, math), intellectual giftedness, twice-exceptional profiles (gifted + learning difference), and Autism Spectrum Disorder. Every report is written to meet school district requirements for IEP and 504 plan eligibility, and includes specific, grade-appropriate recommendations your child's school can implement right away. A parent feedback session is included so you leave knowing exactly what the results mean and what to ask for next.

Frequently asked questions

A psycho-educational evaluation is a comprehensive assessment of a child's cognitive ability, academic achievement, attention, and social-emotional functioning. It identifies learning disabilities, ADHD, giftedness, and other factors affecting school performance — and produces a report schools can use to create or update an IEP or 504 plan.

School-based evaluations are designed to determine eligibility for services, not necessarily to give you the full clinical picture. An independent evaluation by a licensed psychologist is typically broader, more detailed, and can be used to challenge or supplement the school's findings. It also carries independent clinical weight in IEP meetings.

There is no single right age — if you have concerns, earlier is generally better. We evaluate children from 18 months through adolescence. Early identification means earlier intervention and better outcomes. If your child is struggling and you're waiting for the school to act, a private evaluation can move the process forward.
